INFO

In the 1920s Surrealist artists gathered in parlours and cafes around Paris, finding methods to express the strange creatures and scenes of the unconcious. They would play games, using cooperation and lack of artistic control to allow the artists to come up with illogical juxtapositions of fact and the fantastic. History's favorite of these games was the exquisite corpse, a game that has repeatedly popped back up in the collective unconcious of Europe and the United States. Artists fold the pages into threes, each depicting a different section of a creature, without being allowed to see other artists work. When different artists are responsible for the head, the torso, and the legs of a creature the results are fantastic, strange, and sometimes unnerving. Now this parlor game is being revived for the artists of Charlotte, for modern day artists to collaborate and come together and negotiate the boundaries of dream and reality.
